Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the more common questions asked. If you have any further questions, do contact us here: support@quantumx.com.sg

Yes you can! Everyone in your family can have different profiles in controlling your home.

Preferably. Neutral wire completes the circuit for smart switches when they are on standby mode. Without neutral wire, small amount of electric current flows through the lighting and back to the Distribution Board. This may affect the lifespan of lighting over time and cause the light to flicker.

The signal power in Zigbee is 20 times lower than that of Wifi and Wifi has no proven effects on human’s health. The world also has not recorded any cases of health effects due to Zigbee signal.

  2. Physical control
  3. Voice control using Google Home and Siri

In idle mode, our smart switch consumes less than 0.2W for standby purpose. Based on Singapore’s electricity cost in 2017 (21.39 cents per kWh), the cost of having a smart switch is LESS THAN 3 cents a month!

Without internet, app control and voice control will not be possible as the gateway requires internet to receive command and relay to the smart devices. However, you can still turn on/off your lights physically via the smart switch. Automation and scheduling of smart Zigbee devices are also possible.

If I already have a contractor that is working on my new house, can I still install smart home solution?

Yes! In fact, we encourage you to speak to us as soon as possible. We will liaise with your contractor.

Can I still add on more smart home devices after renovation?

Modular smart devices can be added on easily as and when you require it. Non-neutral smart switches can be retrofitted into an existing home. No rewiring required!

How long will it take to install all the devices in my flat?

It will take approximately 1 day to install the products hardware and another day to configure the program software smart to your personalized and desired settings.

What is required from me to start the planning?

Every house is unique and as such we will require the lighting floorplan from you before we can start the basic planning process. This will be followed up by a more detailed customization that suits your living habits.

Voice control and app control for automation and group control are improvements that give us convenience, comfort and security at home. Smart home also future-proof our home that most of us will probably spend the next decade living in.

ZigBee is the only standards-based wireless technology designed to address the unique needs of low-cost, low-power wireless sensor and control networks in just about any market. ZigBee also connects the widest variety of devices into easy-to-use networks, giving you unprecedented control of the devices you use everyday at home, work or even play.

Why choose Zigbee?

Manufacturers choose ZigBee when they require a wireless control network solution supported by a competitive ecosystem that makes it simple to develop and deploy. ZigBee’s low cost, low data rate architectures deliver long battery life capability, robust security, high data reliability, and product interoperability.

How does Zigbee compare to Bluetooth?

ZigBee was developed to serve very different applications than Bluetooth and leads to tremendous optimizations in power consumption. Some of the key differentiators are:

ZigBee:

  • Application level standardization
  • Very low duty cycle allowing for very long battery life
  • Static and dynamic star and mesh networks, supporting more than 65,000 nodes, with low latency available
  • Ability to remain quiescent for long periods without communications
  • Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum allows devices to sleep without the requirement for close synchronization

Bluetooth:

  • Moderate duty cycle, secondary battery lasts same as master
  • Very high QoS and very low, guaranteed latency
  • Quasi-static star network limited to seven clients with ability to participate in more than one network
  • Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum is extremely difficult to create extended networks without large synchronization cost.
